In 1998, Thiha Aung established Young Investment Group (Y.I.G) which today operates 16 principle subsidiaries in Myanmar, China and Singapore. Y.I.G provides value-added services and contract engineering construction, including mechanic, electric, and civil services from start to finish on a turnkey basis or based on selective services deliverable.

Thiha Aung is the Chairman of Young Investment Group (Y.I.G), a leading international private company in Myanmar. Since establishment in 1998, Y.I.G has become a promising company with exponential growth while maintaining a reputation as Myanmar’s youngest conglomerate. With more than 2,500 local employees, Y.I.G operates 16 principle subsidiaries in Myanmar, China and Singapore.

In 2013, Y.I.G gained a permit from the Myanmar Government to manufacture agricultural machinery and infrastructure. “Our ultimate goal is to become market leader in all businesses we own and operate. Y.I.G provides value-added services and contract engineering construction, including mechanic, electric, and civil services, on a turnkey basis or based on selective services deliverable. Y.I.G has expanded into more than nine industries, from large scale construction projects to commercial real estate, hydro power services contract work, oil and gas exploration, life and non-life insurance and most recently, it has diversified into telecom infrastructure site-build services and communication business which aim to improve the country’s broadband connectivity and teledensity.

During 14 years of business, Y.I.G has implemented many projects in multiple industries and expanded successfully into the minerals and mining industry. In 2012, Y.I.G became Myanmar’s lead gems exporter, including jade and ruby into Thailand and China. The company has dozens of wholesale distribution channels in those countries. In 2013, Y.I.G signed a joint-venture agreement with US based construction firm Holloman Corporation under the name Yung Holloman Crop. The capital investment amount is USD 200 million for two cement factories; one in Thilawa Industrial Zone and another in Thingangyan Township.

With headquarter offices in Myanmar, and regional overseas offices in China and Singapore, Y.I.G is actively involved in the development of Myanmar in a multitude of aspects, chief among them the advancement of human resources pool of capabilities, where the company empowers its workforce of more than 6,000.

Thiha Aung and his wife Nang Saw Htwe steer all main enterprises of Y.I.G. These include Union Trust Securities, Eco Friendly Tower, Young Insurance Global and Myanmar Social Finance. He runs the company under the management of his wife.

Thiha Aung’s ‘Nirvana Hotel & Resort’ and ‘Dream Light Guest House’ serve Naypyitaw and Chaung Thar Beach. Nirvana Hotel is situated in Hotel Zone (1), Naypyitaw. It has a beautiful ancient structure with accommodations including Nirvana Villa garden view (12 rooms) and Villa lake view (8 rooms). An international and Italian restaurant and bar provide meal services and cocktails for up to 100 guests.

Thiha Aung is active in the Myanmar Hotelier Association since 2014, serving as a deputy chairman of Myanmar Hotelier Association (Yangon Zone) and also a joint financial executive in the main organization. This association was set up under the close supervision of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism in line with the permission of the Head of State. The association executives comprise conglomerates and hotel businessmen.

Y.I.G are venturing into new business sectors including the media business, where the company has won the grant for a Digital-free-to-air channel, a content provider of government TV station, Myanmar Radio and Television. Y.I.G is preparing to broadcast a new service, named ‘My Channel’.
